On Sunday, October 24th around 8:00 PM, I was on my way to pick Josh up from his friend's house who was getting home from the deer hunt and came upon a car accident. There was about 15 people that had stopped already, but the accident had only occured about 2-3 minutes prior. I am CPR and First Aid certified, so I jumped out of the car and rushed over to see if I could help. There was 2 people ejected from the car, and another lady that had been trapped in the car. I PANICKED. When you are in a life and death situation, things become a lot different than in a role playing class. I took the ladie's pulse, who was trapped in the car, and she had already passed. They were doing compressions on the man who had been ejected trying to bring him back, but they weren't successful. About 2 minutes after I was on scene, the paramedics showed up. I couldn't handle all of the chaos, and decided to leave once the paramedics showed up. This taught me a huge lesson 1-Have a first aid and resucitation mask in my car at all time 2-NEVER text and drive 3- Don't ever take life for granted. These two individuals live's were taken instantly. Really Life is so short! Tell your loved ones everyday how much you appreciate and love them! I encourage everyone to become CPR and First Aid certified. You never know when you are going to be put in a life and death situation. I praise all of the EMT's and first responders who have to deal with tragic accidents like this all of the time. It definitely messes you up in the head a little bit.
